Puroresu Project is an independent, freely accessible archive dedicated to Japanese professional wrestling. Its goal is to preserve the history, celebrate the wrestlers, and connect fans to the rich tradition of puroresu.
Puroresu Project is a curated digital archive for exploring Japanese professional wrestling through wrestlers, timelines, styles, venues, match history, media, and cultural context.
Puroresu Project is independently created and maintained, with the goal of making puroresu history easier to explore, preserve, and share.
Japanese wrestling has a rich, complex history that deserves to be preserved, connected, and made easier to explore. This project exists to help longtime fans, new viewers, researchers, and curious visitors find their way through that history.
The site is organized around connected entry points: The Story, Timeline, Wrestlers, Lineage, Styles, The Vault, Venues, and Beyond the Ring. Each section is designed to make the archive feel explorable rather than static.
The photography and video featured here are provided for archival and reference purposes only. Puroresu Project does not claim ownership of this media; all rights remain with their respective creators and rights holders.
This project draws from publicly available match records, video archives, books, magazines, promotion histories, venue references, and fan-maintained resources. If you spot an error or have a source that can improve the archive, corrections are welcome.
Puroresu Project grew out of a lifelong love of Japanese professional wrestling and a design practice shaped by complex digital archives, research systems, and connected editorial experiences.
My background in UX design, user research, information architecture, CRM, data modeling, and front-end development shaped how the archive was built: not as a static collection, but as a connected system of wrestlers, promotions, styles, timelines, venues, and matches.
I wanted the site to feel like discovery, not homework. Every page is designed to help visitors follow the relationships, eras, influences, and moments that make Japanese wrestling history so rich.
The archive's research, writing, visual system, page layouts, data model, front-end development, Instagram graphics, merch design, and ongoing curation are created by hand through my own design process and tools. No AI was used for that work.
AI assistance is used only for the wrestler roster portraits, where clean public photography is limited or inconsistent. The goal is to preserve each wrestler's recognizable look while keeping the roster visually cohesive.
Puroresu Project is shaped by readers who share better sources, match links, corrections, and historical context that make the archive stronger.
Vault Links
Shared improved watch links for selected Vault matches, helping visitors reach stronger match sources.
Timeline Research

Social Media Collaboration
Created the video package for the ALL IN video and slide carousel, helping bring the archive's social post to life.
